Download the open-sTeam Server

The current stable release version of the open-sTeam server is version 2.6.25 , the current developer (unstable) version is 2.7.8 .

There are installation packages for several GNU/Linux distributions:

The latest versions might not always be available as installation packages.

If you are using a different GNU/Linux brand or if you would rather install the server from source code, you can also download the latest source code as a tarball archive below, or check out the code from our CVS server:

  • Login as user steam:
    cvs -d :pserver:steam@cvs.open-steam.org:/cvs login
  • CVS prompts for the password, enter "steam"
  • Check out the server source code (stable version):
    cvs -d :pserver:steam@cvs.open-steam.org:/cvs co steam-2_6
    or the latest developer (unstable) version:
    cvs -d :pserver:steam@cvs.open-steam.org:/cvs co steam-2_7

Note: We have experienced threading-problems on systems running Linux 2.4 kernels. We therefore recommend to run sTeam servers on systems running a Linux 2.6 kernel or newer.
